Can you help me?

As you might expect, I can’t answer that until I meet you and do an exam. I do promise to be honest with you and take the time to clearly communicate the diagnosis. I will also tell you whether I can help you or if someone else would be better suited. I’ll give you all the information you need so that you can make a decision about what’s right for you.

I have experience in effectively and efficiently treating people with sports injuries and accidents involving all joints and muscles of the body. People with any type of back or neck pain, headaches and jaw problems do very well under my care. Many people come to me for alternative treatments for most ailments they might otherwise see an MD for, such as digestive and immune problems, allergies and much more. I have a wide variety of natural and holistic solutions for people who want alternatives to drugs or surgery.

How long does it take to feel better?

This is different for each person and each condition. After your examination, I will give you my recommendations, specifying how many treatments and how frequently they are needed to reach you goals.

For muscle and joint problems, we will usually begin our treatments every week or maybe twice per week. As you get better, we will treat you less frequently. I find that many conditions resolve in six to twelve visits.

For conditions stemming from a system or organ problem (immune, digestive, hormonal, etc.) we usually meet every two to four weeks. These conditions usually heal in two to eight visits.

What treatments do you do?

I believe that no two people are the same, so I design personalized treatment programs to fit the specific needs and health goals of my patients. I know that chiropractic adjustments are powerfully effective and I know they aren’t the only treatment a person needs. I am trained in a variety of treatment techniques, allowing me to get to the cause of the problem. In most cases, I use a combination of the following treatments during each visit.

Chiropractic Adjustments

  • Diversified: Traditional (with popping):
  • Drop Table: Lighter adjustments
  • Activator, Reflex Respiration Technique, SOT Blocking: Very light adjustments without popping.
  • Ribs and extremities: “Any Joint in the Body”

Applied Kinesiology (AK)

CranioSacral Therapy (Upledger)

Cranial Reflex Respiratory Treatments (Applied Kinesiology)

Acupressure/Meridian Therapy (AK)

Massage

  • Origin Insertion (AK)
  • Fascial Flush (AK)
  • Trigger Point/Myofascial Therapy

Orthotics: Custom made from casts of your feet

Reiki

Chakra Balancing

BodyTalk

Exercise, Stretching & Rehabilitation

  • Gym Ball and Stabilization Prescription
  • Tubing, Isometric and Workout Prescription

I’m in pain. What can I expect from a visit with you?

Your first visit:

Many people tell me this is the most thorough examination they have ever had. I begin by listening to your detailed health history and then perform an examination focused on your problem area(s). My chiropractic exam is virtually the same as you would receive from an orthopedist, detailing each joint and muscle. This “Functional Examination” considers the interaction of nerves, muscles and joints that may be directly or indirectly associated with your problem. We will determine the exact location and cause of the problem as well as the structures and patterns that are keeping the problem there or making it worse. In most cases I will treat you on the first visit.

Subsequent visits:

I will treat the problem areas we found in the exam and in most cases I will check the muscles, joints, nerves (muscle strength), CranioSacral rhythm, and energy flow. I check all of this from the neck to finger tips and from the back to the toes, I even check the jaw. The treatments I use will address all of the areas blocking the healthy function of your body. After the treatment, I reassess those aspects to assure that a restoration of function and flow to the body was made. When needed, we‘ll discuss exercises, ergonomics and other home care. By the time your visit is over, the thoroughness and attention you have received will leave you feeling truly cared for.

I’m looking for an alternative approach for my health problem. What can I expect from a visit with you?

First visit:

I begin by listening to your detailed health history and then I perform an exam that will probably be very different than any you have experienced before. I do an assessment of the different organs, glands, systems, and energy centers by touching the related acupuncture and reflex points that relate to them. This tells me where the body is working well and where it is not. I may also perform muscle testing, as used in Applied Kinesiology (AK), to test various foods, herbs, vitamins, allergens, etc. Finally, I combine all this information with your history and my experience, knowledge and wisdom to define a treatment approach. Every patient’s treatment is unique, and most include some combination of diet and lifestyle changes, supplements and herbal medicines, and in-office treatments. The goal is to help you feel better and restore your innate ability to heal yourself.

Subsequent visits:

We will catch up on your progress and I’ll answer any questions or concerns. Then I’ll assess the healthy function of your body in a similar manner to the first exam, seeing how you’ve progressed and what to add or change to your treatments. In most cases, I will check the spinal joints, nervous system (muscle strength), CranioSacral rhythm, and flow of energy, as well. By the time your visit is over, the thoroughness and attention you have received will leave you feeling truly cared for.

Does it hurt?

The majority of patients feel less pain and discomfort and greater freedom of movement after a chiropractic adjustment. If you are one of the small percentage of people who feel soreness after the adjustment, we may use a different method or modify the treatment on your following visits.

I make a special effort to listen to your needs and past experiences so we can decide on the best method of adjustment for you. Some people feel uncomfortable with a traditional “popping” adjustment. For those people, we’ll use the Activator or the drop table. I want you to get better. Which method we use is not as important as long as it is effective for you.

How much will it cost?

The initial examination is $65. Subsequent visits range from $15 to $76 with most in the $25 to $60 range. We will answer all of your financial questions at the second visit, when we know the number of treatments we anticipate to reach your goals and the details of your insurance (if you have it). We have plans to make your care affordable. Just ask.

Will I need X-Rays?

I find that less that 10% of my patients need x-rays at the beginning of treatment. I sometimes order x-rays later in care if we haven’t seen the progress we expected or if I need more information.

I do not have x-ray facilities at my office. I refer to the Auburn Imaging Center when they are needed. Their quality is excellent and the films are read by a radiologist before I read them. Once I get the results and review the films myself, I will go over the findings and films with you.
